Location

The Udaya Resorts & Spa is ideally located between Tegallalang and central Ubud, just a 7-minute drive from town. It’s the perfect base for exploring Bali’s famous rice terraces, temples, and cafés, while still feeling completely secluded. Surrounded by lush jungle and a peaceful river, the resort offers a serene escape with the perfect mix of nature and convenience.

The resort offers a complimentary shuttle service to Ubud town throughout the day, making it super easy to pop in for sightseeing, shopping, or dinner without the stress of navigating traffic or finding parking.

Getting there

From Ngurah Rai International Airport, the drive to The Udaya hotel takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. The roads around Ubud can be busy, especially during peak hours, so be sure to allow extra time if you’re heading back to the airport or catching a tour.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink and cool towel — a small but thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the relaxing stay ahead

The Room

The Udaya Bali Resort offers a range of accommodation options to suit every type of traveller, from spacious suites to luxurious private pool villas, there’s something for everyone.

We stayed in the Royal Duplex Pool Villa — a stunning two-storey bamboo villa nestled in the heart of the jungle. Spanning 142 m², this eco-luxury villa features a beautifully furnished ground floor with a dining area, lounge space, TV, and plenty of natural textures. Upstairs, you’ll find a serene king bedroom with jungle views, a private balcony, and a spacious bathtub complete with fragrant soap — perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

Our favourite was the private pool, perfect for cooling off after a hot day, and the hammock on the second floor — the dreamiest spot to unwind and take in the peaceful surroundings. This villa is perfect for longer stays and truly blends comfort with nature in the most beautiful way.

Activities and Experiences

Floating Breakfast

Of course, we couldn’t stay at The Udaya without trying their iconic floating breakfast — a beautifully presented spread served on a floating tray in your private pool. This was absolutely at the top of my 15 best things to do in Ubud.

The food is prepared by the talented chefs at Deeva Restaurant, and the menu is the same as what you’d get when dining in. It’s a must-do experience that’s both delicious and incredibly photogenic.

To enjoy the floating breakfast, you’ll need to book it at least one day in advance and submit your selections the night before. Every breakfast includes a platter of fresh fruits and bread, and you can choose as many dishes from the menu as you like. Some of our favourites were the egg burrito, Pasta Salad, and the refreshing smoothie bowl.

The staff were amazing and so happy to help — they’ll patiently assist you with taking as many photos as you want, which made the experience even more memorable.

Just note that the floating breakfast is only available in pool suites or villas, not at the main pool. If you’re staying in one of these, don’t miss out!

Celebration of Flowers Bath

This is one of the most Instagrammable experiences in Bali — and for good reason. The Kaveri Spa at The Udaya offers beautifully crafted flower baths that are as relaxing as they are photogenic. It’s a unique experience that feels both indulgent and unforgettable.

You can customize your flower bath by choosing from a variety of color schemes and designs sent to you in advance. I chose the round tub with a garden view, and it was absolutely stunning. The setting felt peaceful, private, and dreamy.

There were so many flowers in the bath that the design stayed intact even after getting in — as long as you step in gently (and don’t fall in!). The Celebration of Flowers experience lasts 45 minutes and takes place in beautiful round-shaped tubs or Oval tubs.

The staff are also happy to help you take plenty of photos, which made the experience even more special for me as a solo traveler.

Botanical Bliss Bath

Another one of Kaveri Spa’s signature experiences is the Botanical Bliss Bath — a soothing treatment that’s as relaxing as it is beautiful. The bath is infused with a mix of herbal leaves, flowers, and essential oils, creating a calming aroma and a spa-like feel. It’s perfect for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature in a peaceful setting..

This treatment not only looks magical but also feels incredibly soothing for the skin. The blend of natural ingredients creates a gentle, aromatic experience that’s perfect for unwinding after a long day. It’s an ideal add-on if you’re already booking a spa treatment or simply want to treat yourself.

Massage Treatment

The massage treatments at Kaveri Spa are absolutely divine — deeply relaxing and set in the most tranquil surroundings. The spa rooms are open-air with views of the jungle, creating a peaceful atmosphere where you can fully switch off. The therapists are incredibly skilled and attentive, tailoring the pressure and technique to suit your needs.

We chose a traditional Balinese massage, and it was one of the most soothing experiences we’ve had. Every detail, from the calming essential oils to the gentle music, made it feel extra special. You’ll walk out feeling refreshed, restored, and completely pampered.

Yoga

The Udaya offers complimentary morning yoga classes held in a peaceful bamboo pavilion surrounded by jungle views. It’s the perfect way to start your day feeling grounded, refreshed, and connected to nature. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced yogi, the sessions are gentle, welcoming, and suitable for all levels.

The setting is incredibly calming — you can hear birds chirping and feel the morning breeze as you move through each pose. Mats are provided, so all you need to bring is yourself. It’s a beautiful wellness touch that makes your stay feel even more rejuvenating.

Nature Walk

One of the lovely perks of staying at The Udaya is their free guided nature walk to the Campuhan Ridge Walk — one of Ubud’s most scenic trails. This is one of the best things to do in Ubud Bali.

The hotel provides a shuttle and guide who will walk with you and share insights along the way. It’s a great way to experience the lush landscapes of Bali without needing to plan a thing.

The trail itself is a paved path through rolling hills and jungle views, making it both accessible and incredibly photogenic. We went around around 7:30 am, and the golden light made everything feel extra magical. This easy hike quickly became one of the highlights of our stay.

Main Swimming Pool

The Udaya’s main swimming pool is a spacious, serene spot surrounded by lush greenery, making it the perfect place to relax and soak up the Balinese sunshine. There are plenty of sun loungers and shaded areas where you can unwind with a good book or enjoy a refreshing drink.

While the pool isn’t where you can have the floating breakfast experience, it’s ideal for a leisurely swim or cooling off after a day of sightseeing. The peaceful atmosphere here adds to the overall sense of calm throughout the resort.

Deeva Restaurant

Deeva Restaurant offers an extensive menu with a variety of both Western and Asian dishes. Breakfast is included with all stays and features an open buffet of fresh breads, plus you can order as many items as you like from the à la carte menu.

You’ll find everything from fresh salads and soups to pizza, pasta, seafood, and plenty of vegetarian options. The menu caters well to different tastes and dietary needs, including gluten-free choices.

We dined at Deeva on both nights of our stay, and the food was consistently delicious. The live music in the evenings added a wonderful ambiance, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring.

Shuttle Bus

The Udaya offers a complimentary shuttle bus that departs every hour during daylight hours, taking guests to the centre of Ubud. It’s a convenient way to leave the resort and explore the town without worrying about transport. We enjoyed a day out wandering and having lunch in Ubud, and the shuttle made getting there and back simple.

If you prefer not to wait, you can also use popular ride-hailing apps like Grab or Gojek to get around quickly. Having an eSIM on hand made this especially easy, giving us the freedom to order rides on the spot without hassle. It’s a great option for flexible travel during your stay.

Final Thoughts

Our stay at The Udaya Resorts & Spa was nothing short of magical — from the lush jungle setting and luxurious villas to the thoughtful staff and unforgettable experiences. Every detail felt intentional and filled with heart, making it one of the most memorable places we’ve stayed in Bali and makes me want to stay here again.

If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat that blends wellness, nature, and luxury, The Udaya truly delivers. Whether it’s your first time in Ubud or your fifth, this resort is a special kind of escape you’ll want to return to again and again.
