B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo Review
Florence, Italy is one of those cities you simply have to visit at least once. Known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, it’s full of incredible art, rich history, and unforgettable food.
What makes Florence even better is how compact and walkable it is — you can explore most of the main sights on foot without needing transport. That’s why this hotel is often considered one of the best places to stay in Florence if you want to save your time and money on public transport.
During my stay, I quickly realised just how convenient the location really is. Being so central meant I could walk everywhere, pop back to the room when I needed a break, and truly make the most of my time in Florence without wasting a single moment.
Is it worth staying at B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo Florence, Italy?
Yes — especially if you’re looking for Florence hotels with rooftop terrace access and unbeatable views of the Duomo.
The rooftop alone makes this stay feel special and unforgettable, more details later.
If you value location, views, and convenience, this is one of the best stays in the city.
Features of B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo Firenze
Rooftop experience
One of the biggest highlights of staying at B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo is the rooftop terrace with some of the best views of Florence, and it’s exactly the kind of view you’ve probably already seen all over Instagram. If you’ve ever wondered where that perfect shot of Florence with the Duomo in the background is taken, this is it.
Only guests of the hotel have exclusive access to the terrace, which is secured by a locked entry, making it feel private and special despite being right in the heart of the city.
The terrace offers a full 360-degree view over Florence, including Duomo Views and Piazza, and it really is one of those moments that feels even better in real life than in photos. The best times to visit are sunrise and sunset, when the golden light makes the city look even more magical and perfect for photography.
When I checked in, I was given a key to access the rooftop 24/7, and it quickly became my favourite part of the entire stay.
As I was solo travelling, I even asked the receptionist if she could help me take a few photos, and she was incredibly kind and happily spent time helping me capture content.
You can also order drinks like Chianti wine or Prosecco and enjoy them on the terrace while overlooking Florence, or you can simply buy something from the shops downstairs like I did and bring it up to enjoy at sunset

Location & accessibility
Address: Via Roma, 3, 50123 Florence, Italy
B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo is located right in the historic centre of Florence, directly in front of the cathedral, which makes it incredibly convenient for exploring the city on foot.
When staying at La Terrazza Sul Duomo, you are within walking distance of all the major landmarks, including Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Accademia Gallery, and even theArno River.
There are also plenty of great food spots nearby, including All’ Antico Vinaio, as well as my favourite pasta cooking class and small local restaurants just a short walk away.
Sally’s tip: staying here means you can visit the Duomo early in the morning before the crowds arrive, when you can actually enjoy it peacefully and take Instagram-worthy photos of the cathedral with barely anyone around.

In terms of transport, it’s very easy to reach from Florence’s main train station, Santa Maria Novella, which is around a 10 minutes walk or a short taxi ride. From Florence Airport, it takes approximately 20–25 minutes by car.
On my trip to Italy, I travelled from Como to Florence by train, and then walked from, Santa Maria Novella, to the hotel. It was manageable.
On my way back to Rome, I decided to ask the hotel to order a taxi instead. By that point, I had bought a few things and my luggage was getting heavier, so I didn’t feel like walking back to the station.
I also ended up buying quite a bit of wine during my day trip to Tuscany to take back home… so let’s just say my suitcase definitely wasn’t as light as it was when I arrived haha.

Check-in experience
When you arrive at the building, you ring the buzzer to contact reception. Once inside, you take the elevator up through this historic building, which brings you to the hotel reception.
From there, the receptionist will personally take you to your room.
Check-in starts from 14:00 until 19:00, and check-out is until 11:00
Accommodation and room types
This beautiful bed and breakfast is set inside a nineteenth-century historic building. The rooms are elegant and nicely decorated in a refined style and have a lot of charm.
The furniture is classy, with shades of silver, gold, and purple, giving the space a soft boutique feel. Don’t expect a massive hotel like the Hyatt or Hilton, but for the price, location, and incredible views, it really delivers a memorable stay.
My Room
I stayed in the Superior Double Room with City View, and needless to say, it was perfect. The room was beautifully decorated, and the view from my window was amazing. I could see the whole Piazza Santa Maria Novella and even the cathedral right from my room, which made it feel very special.
My room rate included daily breakfast, rooftop access, room service, air conditioning (with both heating and cooling radiators), a fridge, a snack bar, a kettle with tea and coffee, an LCD TV, and a digital safe. The bathroom came with a shower, great-quality toiletries, and a hairdryer.
A side note: not all hotels in Italy come with air conditioning, so having aircon at La Terrazza Sul Duomo during the hot summer in July was definitely a bonus.

The hotel also offers a few other room options depending on your budget and travel style:
- Small Double Room with a French bed (affordable option)
- Standard Double Room (affordable luxury in a central location)
- Superior Double Room with Cathedral View (the one I booked — perfect for a romantic weekend in Florence with a beautiful view)
- Triple Deluxe Room (perfect for families or groups of friends)
Whichever room you choose, I am sure you will enjoy your stay!

Other amenities and services
Luggage storage: You can leave your bags at the hotel if you arrive early before check-in or after check-out. This is really convenient if you want to start exploring Florence straight away or continue sightseeing without carrying your luggage around.

Dining Experiences
Yes, breakfast is included in the room rate, which is a lovely bonus to start the day in Florence.
There is a small dining area next to the reception where breakfast is served, but you can also choose to enjoy it on the rooftop or in your room, depending on the experience you want.
I stayed here for two nights and tried both breakfast settings, and honestly, I loved both.
The breakfast includes a cornetto (Italian croissant), a cheese platter, cold cuts, sweet pastries, and yogurt. You’re also served coffee, water, and juice.
Special experiences
The hotel also offers special add-on experiences if you want to make your stay extra memorable.
Romantic experience
If you’re looking for romantic things to do in Florence, this is a beautiful option to book directly with the hotel. It’s especially perfect for couples, if you are on your honeymoon, or celebrating a special occasion. Just arrange it with reception in advance and agree on the timing so it can be set up as a surprise for your partner.
The experience includes a bottle of Prosecco served in an ice basket, fresh strawberries, chocolates, and red roses. It’s a really thoughtful touch that makes the stay feel extra special and romantic.
Birthday experience
If you’re celebrating a birthday in Florence, the hotel also offers a dreamy birthday package, which includes a bottle of Prosecco, a custom cake, and chocolates.
Staff
The staff were lovely throughout my stay, and communication beforehand was also very smooth and helpful, which made check-in feel easy and stress-free. The staff also consistently receive a lot of positive reviews, which really reflects the level of service and attention guests experience during their stay.
B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo Prices
Staying at B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo is not the most budget-friendly option, but it is also not overly expensive for what you get.
The prices are very reasonable considering the location, especially when compared to similar stays in other European cities.
I personally paid €583 for two nights with breakfast included during the peak summer season in July 2025. To be honest, I don’t think that’s too much at all given the value you receive. I’ve paid significantly more for far less in other parts of Europe.
Guest Experiences and Reviews
You can probably already tell how much I absolutely loved my stay at B&B La Terrazza Sul Duomo. But I also want to give you an idea of what other guests think as well.
Before that, it’s worth noting that the property has an impressive Booking.com rating of 9.1 (Superb).
Guest reviews consistently highlight the location, rooftop views, and customer service. Many guests feel the hotel is reasonably priced considering its central location and the fact that some rooms offer views of the Duomo. Others describe it as beautiful, charming, safe, and romantic.
Absolutely loved the location….couldn’t have been better and at a relatively reasonable cost given the location and view of the Duomo from the room. It is also in close walking distance to the Pizza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.” – I.L. (See more Trip Advisor reviews).
Who is this hotel for?
In my opinion, this hotel is suitable for a wide range of travellers, especially if comfort and location are your priority.
It’s ideal for couples celebrating a special occasion, as well as families travelling with children. It also works really well for solo travellers, as I personally felt very safe during my stay and was able to come and go freely throughout the day while exploring Florence.
It’s also a great option for influencers or content creators looking to capture beautiful content, whether inside the hotel or around Florence’s main attractions, all within easy reach.
Who This Hotel May Not Be For
This hotel may not be the best choice if you are travelling on a very tight budget or if you are looking for a large resort-style hotel experience.
It’s also not ideal if you are specifically searching for a hotel with a swimming pool in Florence, as this is a boutique-style property that focuses more on location, charm, and rooftop views rather than leisure facilities like a pool.
